Jeanette Paule Mojica, born January 29, 1959 in Puerto Rico, to Gilberto and Regina Mojica, sister to Danny Mojica, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018. Jeannette leaves behind her loving wife Laurie Whittaker, her faithful father, and countless devoted family and friends. Jeanette was preceded in death by her dedicated mother Regina and cherished brother Danny.

Born with a gift of music in her hands and voice. Jeanette grew as a musician and performer all her life. Formation as a talented artist found nurture and growth as a student.

Jen’s natural abilities were recognized by teachers, and fellow students at Miami Killian Senior High School, in Miami, Florida.

As part of a vibrant performing arts program, she enthusiastically joined with like minded classmates in presenting innovative productions. Her roles were many, and truly varied….and always superior. One memorable and life changing opportunity came in an ensemble performance of the musical “Godspell.” This experience, and others like it, affirmed in Jeanette a love of participation and sharing of her gifts with excellence and God-given ability.

Jeanette pursued her passion for music education at FSU from 1978 to 1981 and graduated with a Bachelors of Musical Education. While at FSU, she met Laurie after singing at a halftime show embarking on their life of love and adventure for almost 38 Years. Jeanette spent over twenty years in the Cruise industry in sales, and worked for VISA for a ten years as executive in marketing.

Jeanette channeled her desire to serve as an energetic board member of organizations dedicated to equality and the LGBT community through her participation in and co-founder of the Board of Rainbow Business Alliance, and passionate organizer of AIDS Walk Broward, and through numerous other fundraising activities. While working with Laurie at Sidelines she helped to spearhead an outreach program to register voters.
