Gloria A. Sauchelli, 90, of Cooper City, FL, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021. Mrs. Sauchelli was born in Maplewood, New Jersey, on March 27, 1930, to Joseph Maffei and Frances Avagliano Maffei. She is predeceased by her husband, Mario V. “Matt” Sauchelli; son, John Emil Sauchelli; and daughter, Lynn S. Sauchelli VanderWyde. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Walter) Bretana; and son-in-law Cornelius “Butch” VanderWyde. She was loved by her six grandchildren Monica (Tim) VanderWyde Schletter; Anthony (Rebecca Guillou) Bretana; Teresa (Robert) Mencini; Tracy (David) Hill; April (Juan Carlos) Gonzalez; and Michelle Bretana. She was adored by her ten great-grandchildren Danielle,
Ashley, Anabella, Kaitlyn, Christopher, Dominick, Gianna, Lucas, Gabriela, and Arlen, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Her love of reading included the works of James Patterson, Michael Crichton, and Stephen King. Movies she would watch over and over included King’s Row, Somewhere In Time, and Dave. The years of watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune got us all watching! The death of Alex Trebek saddened her deeply. She was a huge fan. She never missed her favorite soap, General Hospital, even getting her caregivers, Denise and Beverly hooked!

From playing, or was it cheating, at board games with her grandchildren, laughing with her great-grandchildren, watching her beloved NY Yankees and Miami Dolphins, cooking fabulous Italian meals, living in many different states flipping houses with her husband, she just loved life. When asked which of the houses she missed the most, she said they didn’t matter because she was just happy to be with her husband.

She was such a gentle soul, and people were drawn to her. One couldn’t help falling in love with her immediately. She will be missed by so many.

Visitation will be Monday, March 15, from 6:00PM – 8:00 PM. There will be a prayer service at 6:30. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,, or the charity of your choice. Interment at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL, at a date to be determined.

Arrangements entrusted to Valerie Panciera’s Landmark Funeral Home, 4200 Hollywood Blvd.
Hollywood, FL 33021. 954-989-8220
