Amparo Martinez

Amparo Martinez, 78, resident of Hollywood Florida, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 17th 2018. She was surrounded by her loving family : Sisters Sonia Martinez, Nelly Ortiz(Gabriel Madrid] and beloved niece Ana (David Vigilante) . She is also survived by her nieces , Marlenn (Fernando Arce), Vivian and her grand Nieces and nephews, Juan Felipe, Fernando, Valeria, Victor, Sergio, Isabella, Sophia and Leonardo. Amparo was born in Buga , Colombia she is preceded in death by her parents Cecilia Gamba and Carlos Martinez . She is also survived by cousins and relatives from the Gamba family in the the US and Colombia. Amparo completed her studies in Cali, Colombia. She was a professional in the insurance industry in Cali until she moved to Puerto Rico in 1973. Where she joined her sister Sonia, managing the family’s Funeral Home business. She later went on to manage beauty school academies in Puerto Rico.In 1986, she moved to Hollywood, Florida. Throughout her life Amparo enjoyed travel, dancing, sports and decorating but above all she was passionate about her family. She brought her joy and elegant flair to holidays, birthday parties and family milestones lovingly instilling her Colombian Catholic heritage and traditions on the younger generation of her beloved family members.
We will forever miss this amazing, kind, loving woman we had the privilege to call our Sister, aunt, cousin. Amparo will forever live in our hearts.

Gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 3:00 pm all at Landmark Funeral Home.
